Yes, I was born in the 80's, but it was near the end. So...technically I'm a 90's child. Today at work we came across this list of things that makes you a 90's child, and after going through it, I remembered a bunch of super fun things that made me happy.
Here are some of the websites I found:
http://nineteenninetyschild.tumblr.com/
http://www.scribd.com/doc/63972/You-know-you-are-a-80s-and90s-child-if-you-
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x5866820
You can find others, but these are just some that I looked at today. I did find that most of them have some of the same things on there, but there's a variety of things on there.
Some of the things I remember from my childhood were:
The shows:
Arthur
Dinosaurs (which apparently only a few people I know remember)
DragonBall Z
Power Rangers with Kimberly and Tommy (who by the way, were totally in love)
Doug
Hey Arnold
Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
Rugrats
Ren and Stimpy
Magic School Bus
Pinky and the brain
Fresh Prince of Bel Air
Home Improvement
Full House
We actually played outside!
Kickball
Racquetball
Dodgeball
Foursquare
Tetherball (everyone at my school always fought for it)
Pogs
Pokemon cards...I did own them.
Music like:
Spice Girls
Britney Spears
Christina Aguilera
N'Sync
Backstreet Boys
98 Degrees (don't know how to make a degree sign sorry)
Aaron Carter
Style:
Stirrup Pants
Tights underneath your shorts
Scrunchy socks
Scunci (those things in your hair)
Those clips that you would put your shirt through
Wearing shorts underneath your skirts
The side ponytail
THE CLAW...yes, I had bad hair days too.
Giant hair bows
Movies!
The Lion King...seriously my favorite movie ever.
The Little Mermaid
Cinderella
Snow White
Sleeping Beauty
and...just all the awesome movies ya know?
Well...what era are you a child of? It is so fun to remember all the fun things from when I was a child. It brings back awesome memories!
Sometimes the past can be fun! haha
Have fun!

Oh how time flies...
So, lately I've noticed how fast time flies. I mean, you always look at the calender at the end of the month thinking, "Wow that went by fast!", but this month, I seriously have been so surprised at how fast time has gone by for me. Really, I have been even more amazed at how time has gone by in general.
For example, I've seen how my cute little cousins have become grown ups and how my little brothers have become such responsible young men, and this seems crazy to me! I think about what my life plan was when I was my youngest brother's age, 16, and I'm kind of disappointed. But then again I'm not. I've done a lot in the past few years and although there are things I wish I could have done differently, I wouldn't be the person I am today without having gone through those experiences.
I remember when I was in 8th grade, I made a list of what I wanted my life 10 years from them. I was 14 at the time. I've gone over that letter recently and man was I crazy back then!
Here is what some of my letter said:
I will have moved out of my house.
I will be done with college.
I will have my career established.
I will be a business woman.
I want to be married.
I want to have great money.
Well, those were a few of the things I "wanted" for my life at my age now.
Out of those 6 things, I have only accomplished 1 of them. ONE. I moved out of my house. Let me tell you, it's been an adventure. I've gone to college and I am no where near close to being finished. Which would trump the business woman, and great money ideas. Also, I am not married.
It's funny how when I was 13, I thought that all of these things were what was going to make me happy. Little did I know the amazing changes I was going to go through that have really taught me a lot. So, in honor of the 10 year anniversary of this letter to my future, I am going to write myself another letter. Only this time, it is going to be from me now at 23, to myself at age 13.
I was going through a hard time when I was 13 and did for a while. I always tell people how I would be a genius if I knew what I know now when I was in jr. high and high school. If I could tell myself anything, here is what I would say. And preface, I am not all up on myself or anything, just a little confidence booster ya know?
1. Be completely honest and loyal to your TRUE friends. You know who they are. They are the ones that will help you when you truly need it.
2. Cherish the time you have with your parents. They only want to see you be the best you can be. And...they are always right. Unfortunately.
3. Become closer with your brothers. Even though they don't show it, they love you and will do anything for you. I mean ANYTHING.
4. Don't worry about being "FAT". You are not fat and you are a beautiful young lady. You have so much potential you don't see in yourself. You are smart. Don't beat yourself up about your appearance. You really are beautiful. Love yourself.
5. Don't worry about boys. Just have fun and be yourself!
6. High school sucks! It sucks for everyone, but you are a smart, wonderful person and you are going to be ok. NOBODY, remembers what happened in high school. If they do, they need to learn to move on and you shouldn't worry about them.
7. Have faith. All I can say is, things will get better. I promise you. Don't ever give up. Things are going to get rough, but you are strong!
Aaaannnd....last but not least....
8. Don't ever forget who you are. Remember what mom and dad said about being humble. That will be very important. Swallow your pride. Keep working hard. Again, love yourself.
I keep trying to tell myself the last rule, but we are always learning right?
Well, I was kind of embarassed to post this, but I like it. I feel like everyone should write themselves a letter. It really helps. Makes me feel like I'm not so disappointing after not meeting all my 13 year old goals! haha.
Thanks for reading! Hope I don't get too boring!

Thinking, thinking...
Here is a quote that I read at work today. I feel like I'm going to try to find more quotes. Some are extremely inspiring. I especially love this one.
"Anyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength.”
I am going to put this down as one of my favorite quotes. We really are only as weak as we allow ourselves to be. Don't give up. Ever. Life is about finding what makes you happy. Remember that everything happens for a reason. Stay strong. If one door closes, an even better one will open. It might not be the next one you open, or even the next one after that. But don't give up. Keep searching. Ask anyone if they have regretted not giving up. This takes me to my next favorite quote...
"I'd rather have a life of oh wells than a life of what ifs"
I love this quote too because it is the perfect example of what life should be like. While you explore and try to find what makes you happy, if it doesn't work out, just keep trying, eventually it will.
Just a quick thought of what I had in my day today. I love inspirational quotes! Sometimes I wish I wrote them. I wish I could be the person that had a website full of these. Maybe I will take my own advice and try it and if I fail I will just say "Oh well", and not "What if..". Hmmm...we'll see how this works out.
Oh, AAAAND...the fish I keep at my desk...he attempted suicide. I put him in a bowl while I cleaned out is home and when I came back from cleaning it, my co-worker was putting him back in the bowl because he had jumped out! What a rascal! My friend's fish that she keeps at her desk also did this a little while ago. I'm not sure what the issue is...but it freaks the freak out of me. Ugh, well, we saved him so he is safe now. But if he does it again and he dies...I will cry. Whoo! Dodged a bullet there!
Well...have a good night. It's late.
Thanks!

The Gray Zone...
So. Today was an interesting day. I felt really sick halfway through the day and had to leave work early. Lame! But I was able to sleep and hopefully this massive headache and icky stomach feel better by tomorrow.
So another funny thing that happened to me today, well I guess the only funny thing since being sick is never humorous...I found my first gray hair. Yep. Gray. In my head.
At first I wasn't sure if it was a gray hair or not because this one time, I thought I was going gray and it really was just my facewash that had benzoyl peroxide in it and it was bleaching my hair. Yeah, I know, it shouldn't even be in my hair, but it was. Anyway, so I'm in the bathroom washing my hands and I notice this hair in my part that is way lighter than the rest of my hair. Keep in mind, I have almost black hair, so I should have noticed this light stray way before now.
I look at it and am hesitant because of the face wash thing, but it is only one hair and not a patch. So I go back into my office and ask the girls if it looks gray. My worst fear was confirmed. I plucked it out immediately and found that it was 90% gray! The end was still dark but it was already lightening up!
I don't really have a fear of getting old, I just am being vain and don't want to look old. Not that gray hair is bad or looks bad on everyone, but in my own personal opinion, I don't want it. So needless to say, I will be dying my hair this weekend. Even if it is just one. I know it's ridiculous to some but even dying your hair makes you feel so much better and leaves your hair feeling so soft. One more excuse to do it. Oh and I might be getting pictures taken, so I will have yet another excuse.
Well, there was my lame rant of the day. But I wanted to document when I got my first gray hair. I'm growing up and yet another part of adulthood has been met in my life. Oh how I love being grown up. I wish there was a font for sarcasm.
Well, have a good day. I am off to recovery of this icky feeling of being ill!

What a day!
Ok, so I don't mean to complain, but I'm just going to vent for a second.
How many of you have just been minding your own business, driving down the road, when to your surprise...you notice some beautiful soul just riding up on your car like they are going to jump over your car or something?
Yes, it's a tailgater. I'm not sure if that is the appropriate term for people who do that, but that is my term for them.
One of my biggest pet peeves is people who tailgate. I hate, hate, hate it. Did you get it? I hate it.
I know I'm making a way bigger deal than it should be, but I think what makes me mad more is when people get mad at you for maybe like brake checking them when they are doing something wrong.
I know, I know. I probably shouldn't be brake checking them anyways, I mean it is a hazard. But when you have some doofus on his cell phone, not paying attention to the road and is riding your @$$...I think within caution it is ok.
So this above mentioned scenario, the one with the doofus on his cell phone, happened to me today. I was on my merry little way just on my way home to see my cute little mom during lunch, and this moron just acts like I'm part of his monster truck obstacle course. He is on his cell phone, and I waited at least the course of 2 street lights to make sure he wasn't just accidentally doing it. No, he just drives like that I would assume. So I brake check him, just lightly. What does he do? He honks at me and gives me a glare. THE NERVE!!! Really, it would have been all good and ended there if he would have just accepted responsibility and just not honked. By the way, I was going at least 5 mph over the speed limit. So besides the fact that we were already breaking one rule, he had to go break another one. Whoo...Ok. I just needed to vent about how doofy people need to stop doing doofy things. Gosh!
Oh, and this just happened to me. I work at a call center and this man just called me dear and sweetie. I don't know him. Why would he think it's ok to call me that? I'm not sure. But that is one of my pet peeves too...oh and when people call you honey. Just don't do it. It makes me grind my teeth.
I'm done being negative. On the bright side. Halloween is closely approaching and I am so excited!!! I am going to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle with my friend Brittany and it is going to be so much fun! I really wish I could be a super cute version of a "girly" TMNT...but ya gotta work with what ya got...soooo...I'm just going to make a tutu and hope it looks fine.
Well, that was my soap box today. Thanks for reading!

I see in my crystal ball....
Ok, so not a crystal ball..but close. So I work at a security company as a part time job right now. There are so many awesome people here and it is so much fun! There is this awesome girl named Sarah who reads palms and she read mine today. Yes I know many of you may not believe in this art. Sarah did tell me one time that she didn't believe what happens with the palm reading, but she said that anytime she has told anyone anything it has come true. She read my roommate's hand and it came up with some pretty interesting stuff and some of it is totally coming true!
Also, I had a dream a little bit ago where she read my hand and told me that I was going to marry a man named Blake and that he was going to work in something that didn't make too much money. Well, that only made me want to get it read even more, just to see if my dream was right.
So today I did the necklace thing to Sarah where you can see how many kids you are going to have, what order and whether they are boys or girls. She had girl, boy, boy. Then we got down to the business. Apparently my spirit was closed off so she couldn't read my palm right away, until she called a super spiritual person that was able to channel his spirit in so she could read my palm.
Here is what she said:
Life-I will have a pretty good lengthy life. She said it would be pretty steady. She said right now I don't have any stress in my life and said my hand looked really clear.
Children-She only saw one child. She couldn't see if it was going to be a girl or a boy but that was all she saw.
Husband-She saw that his name was going to have a "W" in it. She said it could be in his first, middle, or last name. She did say that he was going to be connected in some way to my romomate's boyfriend Michael. She said he wasn't going to be as tall as Michael but that she coudl see his appearance and that he was going to have like brown hair and that he was going to be caucasian. I asked if I would be getting married in the LDS temple and she said yes. She said that she saw him as the one and only marriage I would have and that he was the one I would have my child with. I asked if she could tell if I was going to have a lot of money...I know dumb question, but she said that I wasn't going to be poor and just good. She said that my husband would be the one that would be making this happen. It sounds like it means that I will be a stay at home wife.
The only thing I have to complain about this part would be that she said it would be in 8 years when his name was connected to me. At first she said 11..so 8 is way better.
Adventure-She said that she saw a letter "F" in my palm. She said that she didn't see me in school right now. This is correct, but when I asked if I was going to back to school she said that she saw me on a learning experience out of state for 2 years. Now, she said that this could mean that I was going out the country because she didn't see this learning experience being in the US. She said that the "F" could stand for France possibly. But she said that definitely there will be a learning experience out of the states and possibly country for 2 years. She did say that I wouldn't meet my husband until after this experience.
Family-I asked if it said anything about my family. At first she said that I was blocking this channel off. After she kept looking she asked me if I had a brother. I have 2. So I let her know of this. She said that the only serious line she saw on my palm was involving one of my brothers. She coudn't tell which one it was but that he was going to have an accident. She said that this accident would not kill him but that it would be hurtful to my family. She said she saw that we were a very close family. She said that although we are very close that this accident would hurt my family, but that he wouldn't die.
Whoa!!! so yeah, that was my adventure for today. It was pretty awesome. I wish I could pick out what was true and what wasn't...I mean she says she doesn't believe in it but you never know!! I think it's pretty cool that you can tell certain things just by your hand or your spirit.
Well, go out and have an adventure. Live it up!! haha I'm out!

I'm Lovin it!
No, not McDonalds...although they do have great smoothies. Anyway, just wanted to finally get started on this blog! I created it as just a way of documenting the awesomeness that is my life. Yes, my life is so freaking fantabulous right now I just decided to make another blog. Ok, that sounded a little sarcastic, but really I am loving life right now and I just wanted to have a blog that I could use as a journal. You probably already guessed by the name of my blog that it has something to do with Forrest Gump. If you don't know, I love the quote in that movie where he says, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get."
So...since life is just like a box of chocolates...I'm going to document how those chocolates (you know, life experiences) treat me. Just so you know, this is most likely not going to be one of those blogs where I post TONS of pictures (just a few) along with a big huge long description of what's happening in my life. I am discovering the love I have for writing and I want to write just everything and anything that comes to mine; whether it be good, bad, or ugly. I just thought I'd throw that out there in case some of you don't like to read.
So, I'm at work right now so I won't do too big of an intro...but here's a short one. You'll start to see what I am like as time goes on anyway...so yeah.
I love the color turquoise.
I love to sing. You might want to cover your ears, but I love it.
I love the movie The Lion King. Seriously. Best. Movie. Ever.
I love my family.
I love Heavenly Father.
I hate scary movies.
I hate when people call within the last 5 minutes before closing time. Just don't do it.
I hate slimy things.
I hate snobby people.
I hate boys. Well. Not hate. I just want to tell them to grow a pair.
Well, I could go on and on for days on this list. But, for your sake, I will end now and we shall meet again later.
Thanks for reading!
